John Caplin has been in the people development business for the last 28 years. At present he is the owner of John F. Caplin Coaching & Consulting. In this role he is involved in individual and group coaching as well as facilitation & training. Previous to this, for 13 of those years , John was the in-house coach and consultant with the BC & Yukon District of the PAOC, a dynamic and progressive organization of 196 churches. The organization has over 600 credential holders serving approximately 30,000 people attending churches ranging in size from 25 - 3,500 people in Sunday attendance.
As the primary leadership development architect, John designed structure and systems, providing for ongoing leadership development and care for the organization. His work included training and coaching approximately 60 leaders helping them to facilitate their local learning communities. Sample training topics included basic coaching skills, self-leadership and teambuilding. While he was with the PAOC John had many opportunities to work within culturally diverse situations. Twelve of the churches receiving coaching and training from John were aboriginal and another 45 had a language or culture other than English.
During his last decade John has also provided one-on-one coaching in many diverse and complex contexts. His clients ranged from those new to leadership roles to senior pastors with congregations in the thousands with a combination of paid staff and volunteer leaders. In an average year John would provide 150 to 200 hours of one on one coaching and an equal share of group coaching. Over the last 6 years he has coached, trained and developed 60 other men and women who are coaches/facilitators for regional affinity based learning communities designed to increase leadership capacity and effectiveness.
Besides working in BC & Yukon John has provided consulting and training across Canada as well as in Russia, Israel and the Philippines. He regularly speaks to a variety of group types and sizes. Whether, through an interpreter in Moscow or a sales conference in Whistler his goal is to bring clarity of purpose and to challenge organizations and leaders to achieve their highest potential.
